Littleton, NH: C. Everett Parker, ca. 1920s. About 7 x 9 ½” on 8 ½ x 11” sheets. Six views: three vertically oriented, three horizontally oriented. Very good. Printed brown kraft envelope accompanying the views is tattered at the opening flap. Item #3746
This group of six White Mountains views of “The Eastern Playground of America” is designated “Series One” on the original envelope. The views are:
• The Mt. Washington Hotel from the Golf Links
• Gateway to the Crawford Notch
• Birches, Glessner Road, Bethlehem
• The Old Man of the Mountain
• Hall of Ships, Lost River
• The Flume
Our exploration of the “gelo-chromatic” process came up empty. Using it as a keyword in OCLC produced nothing. Likewise an OCLC search for the views or publisher Parker was unproductive. Parker’s name does turn up in the Bethlehem and Littleton areas in the 1920s, including as the purchaser of a drug store in Bethlehem in 1922. Perhaps he published the views as a tourist item for the store. In any event, the views are scarce, to say the least.
