An attractive map of the coast from Cape Fear, North Carolina to St. Augustine, Florida. It is a German adaptation of a Bellin map that appeared in 1744 in Charlevoix's Histoire et Description de la Nouvelle France. The map identifies rivers and major towns (Charles Town, James Town, Savannah, S. Augustin) and includes several interesting notations concerning name changes of rivers. Also, a notation (in German) "On this island [southwest of Charleston, SC] Ribault built a small fort and named it Charles Fort." Cumming, The Southeast in Early Maps: 305.
